SAIYAN SAGA SUMMARY
The saga starts off with Goku taking Gohan to master Roshi’s place for a reunion. But meanwhile an evil force lands on the planet and meats up with Piccolo. The warrior looks a lot like Goku. He challenges Piccolo and is about to destroy him when he senses were “Kakarot”(his saiyan name) is and decides to head in that direction. Meanwhile, Goku, Gohan, Bulma, Krillin, and Roshi are all at the reunion when the warrior lands and asks Goku why he hasn’t destroyed the planet. Goku is confused and does not know what he is talking about. There is something strange about this warrior, he has a tail! He announces that he is Goku’s brother Radditz. He tells Goku that he is a Saiyan warrior named Kakarot from the planet Vegeta and that he was sent as a baby to Earth to destroy it! Radditz demands that Goku come with him and help him destroy earth. Goku of course refuses so Radditz kidnaps Gohan and says if Goku doesn’t join him, he will take his son instead. Goku trys to stop Radditz but gets kicked hard and fails. Just as Goku is about to go after Radditz again, Piccolo lands and they agree to fight Radditz together. They both take off and soon find Radditz, a battle insues and it becomes clear that Radditz is a much stronger fighter than both Piccolo and Goku. In the midst of the battle, Goku finds a weak spot, his tail! By grabbing Radditz’s tail, it paralyzes him and he is unable to fight back. With Goku holding Radditz’s tail, Piccolo prepares to fire his beam cannon at Radditz. Radditz tricks Goku into thinking that he would never kill him or is son and that he is sorry but as soon as Goku lets go of his tail, Radditz lets him have it! Radditz fires his “keep your eyes on the birdie attack (a very gay attack)” at Piccolo and it destroys his arm. Then he concentrates his assault on Goku. With Gohan locked in Radditz’s space pod and Goku being beaten senseless, it seems like the end for everyone but the cries of pain from Goku are heard by an already upset Gohan who in a rage, breaks out of the pod with enormous energy and head butts Radditz sending him staggering. The shot from Gohan weakens Radditz greatly. With the world still in trouble and Gohan worn out after the head butt and the kick from Radditz, Goku decides to sacrifice himself and grabs Radditz and holds him as Piccolo shoots his beam cannon at both of them. The beam kills both Radditz and Goku. As Radditz dies, Piccolo explains that Goku can be brought back to life with the use of the dragonballs. Upon hearing this, Radditz says that Piccolo made a mistake in saying that because through the scouter Radditz is wearing two more powerful saiyans heard that and that they will be coming to earth in one year. After the battle and the sadness of Goku’s death, Piccolo decides to train Gohan because of the power he seen in him. He thinks he can get Gohan to help fight the saiyans in one year. Piccolo starts Gohan’s training by making him survive in the wild for a while to build up his endurance and stamina. Meanwhile, Krillin trys to deliver the bad news to Goku’s wife Chichi that Goku has died but is unable to do so (she finds out a little while later). Krillin helps assemble the great fighters of earth to train at Kami’s lookout. The great fighters, Yamcha, Tien, Krillin, Chaoitzu and Yadroibe (he can’t fight for beans). While all this is happening on earth, Goku is in heaven and has to make a journey down snake way to receive training from the great King Kai. After Gohan is done with the first half of his training, he begins to train with piccolo in the art of combat. While living in the wild one night, Gohan woke up in the middle of the night and began to gaze at the moon. Suddenly, he transforms into a giant monkey and begins to destroy things. Piccolo trys to stop him but can’t. Gohan’s power is incredible. Finally Piccolo discovers that the moon is causing this and he quickly destroys it. This stops it but Piccolo also finds out that the other cause of this is Gohan’s tail (he has one just like Radditz). Piccolo realizes that saiyans can transform into monkeys at the sight of the full moon and that they can’t do this without their tail so he simply removes it.. Time passes and one night, Gohan transforms again. When Gohan transforms, he has no control over his body. Piccolo trys to stop him again but fails. He notices that the moon is back! Piccolo eventually finds an old space pod that is projecting the moon. The pod is saying for Kakarot to destroy all life forms. Piccolo now finds out that this was Goku’s space pod when he was sent to earth as a baby. Piccolo destroys it and Gohan turns normal. Goku finally reaches King Kai’s planet and trains with him (it is hard at first because the gravity is 10x that of earth). Goku learns two attacks and greatly increases his power level. He learns the Kaioken attack which allows him to double, triple or Quadruple his power (he can go as high as his body can handle). He also learns the spirit bomb which gathers energy from all living things around. With the arrival of saiyans getting close, Roshi and Bulma wish Goku back. Goku, in heaven notices that his halo has disappeared but wonders why he has not been returned to the planet. King Kai realizes something horrible, he forgot to factor the time it will take for Goku to get back to earth. He says Goku will arrive a day late. Goku thought he would just be zapped back to earth and is now in a panic. Before he goes, Kai gives him new clothes with his emblem. Goku says goodbye and begins his return. The saiyans arrive just as Radditz said. Two of them, Nappa and Vegeta waste no time. Nappa clears out a whole section of a city. Soon all the z fighters assemble and meet the saiyans. To their surprise though, Goku has not arrived. The fight starts without them. The saiyans begin their attack by planting horrible plant creatures called sabimen. Nappa plants the seeds but it seems that Vegeta is letting Nappa take care of everything while he sits back and tells Nappa what to do. The sabimen sprout and all the fighters begin to fight. It seems even for a while and then they agree to fight in a more organized way. 1 on 1 compition. Each fighter will fight one at a time. Yamcha decides to go first. He faces off against the creature and it seems like he is just about to finish him and then it appears that he does. He blasted the creature and there is a huge crater. But as he turns his back the sabimen grabs him from behind and self-destructs. Yamcha and the sabimen die. This makes Krillin made because Yamcha wanted to fight because he didn’t want Krillin to fight because if he died, he could not be wished back by the dragonballs because he was already wished back once before. Krillin then says that he will go next and that he will fight them all! Krillin lets out an enourmous blast that splits into a bunch of different blasts that kill all of the sabimen and one of the blasts hit the saiyans. It seems like Krillin killed all the sabimen but his blast on the saiyans had absolutely no effect. A few moments later, one remaining sabimen appears and tries to kill Gohan but Piccolo catches it and sends it packing! Now they must face off against the gigantic saiyan Nappa. Nappa begins to power up and it seems that he has great power. The ground shakes and everyone is just trying to stay standing. The battle begins and Nappa kicks Piccolo and sends him flying. As the battle progresses, Chaoitzu tries to self destruct to kill Nappa but fails and just ends up killing himself. Tien uses his last bit of energy to trys to destroy Nappa but Nappa sees the blast at the last second and blocks it. Tien dies because he uses all of his energy. This leaves Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan. Piccolo and Krillin devise a plan for them to send Nappa flying using a distraction and then for Gohan to blast Nappa while he is falling. Gohan becomes scared and does not fire the blast. The battle continues until Vegeta decides to wait for a warrior named Goku who Piccolo says could defeat them all very easly. Vegeta thinks this is the one they know as Kakarot and it is. After three hours, Goku does not arrive and the battle continues. Meanwhile, Goku has returned to earth and after stopping off at Korin’s tower to get some senzu beans, he begins to fly towards the battle. Vegeta notices a very high power level on his scouter and fears it is Goku. He tells Nappa to finish everyone so that Goku could not team with them. Nappa begins to charge at Gohan to kill him, this makes Gohan angry and we all know what happens when you do that, Nappa is sent flying. Though Gohan kicked him hard, Nappa was virtually unharmed and he then fires a blast at Gohan. The blast would surely have killed Gohan if Piccolo hadn’t stepped in the way to protect Gohan. The blast hurts Piccolo badly and before he dies, he tells Gohan to wish him back with the dragonballs on his home Planet Namek which he discovers he is from. After this, it seems that Krillin and Gohan will die, but just before that happens, Goku arrives. Goku takes on Nappa and it seems that Nappa can’t even touch Goku. Goku hits him a few times and Vegeta calls Nappa back and tells to stop fighting. Vegeta now wants to fight Goku. Nappa gets bored and decides to go after Krillin and Gohan. Upon seeing this, Goku realizes he can’t reach them in time with just his normal speed and power. He uses the Kiaoken attack to catch Nappa and hit him before he can get to them. Vegeta is amazed at the speed and strength of Goku. Goku throws Nappa at Vegeta’s feet. Vegeta, made at Nappa for not getting the job done, throws him into the air and kills him. Goku is amazed at Vegeta’s power and ruthlessness. Goku tells Gohan and Krillin that he will fight Vegeta alone. He tells them to head back to Roshi’s place. Goku and Vegeta start to fight and it seems like Vegeta has a bit of an edge. Goku uses Kaioken and punches Vegeta. After a while of fighting and after Goku uses Kaioken times 2 and 3, Vegeta gets angry and fires his gattletgun at the earth. Goku uses Kaioken times 4 and sends the beam back at him. Vegeta is sent packing for a bit but returns. Vegeta realizes he can’t defeat Goku so he does something amazing. He sends up an artificial moon and transforms into a giant monkey. Now Goku is in trouble. Goku gets knocked around a bit and then decides the only way to defeat him is to use the spirit bomb. He uses a solar flare to blind Vegeta for a while so he can gather energy for the bomb. Just as it is ready, Vegeta fires a beam from his mouth that knocks Goku to the ground and scatters the bomb (or so we think). Vegeta quickly grabs Goku and begins to crush him to death. Gohan senses Goku’s power fading and tells Krillin they have to go back and help him. They get there to find Goku being crushed. Yadroibe appears and says they are nuts for staying and that he is leaving. Gohan trys to distract Vegeta while Krillin cuts off his tail but Vegeta’s keen hearing in his monkey form catches Krillin and stops the blast. Now Krillin and Gohan are about to be destroyed when out of nowhere, Yadroibe cuts off his tail (the only useful thing he ever does). Vegeta retuns to his original self and is now pissed beyond belief. Goku tells Gohan to fight Vegeta so he can give the spirit bomb he retained to Krillin so he can finish him. Krillin, with some help from King Kai who is talking to him telepathically throws the bomb at Vegeta. Vegeta sees it at the very last moment and dodges. The bomb is heading for Gohan. Goku tells Gohan to deflect the spirit bomb back at Vegeta. He does so and it sends Vegeta flying out of sight. They all think Vegeta is dead when suddenly he drops out of the sky seemingly unconscious. Vegeta then wakes up and hits Krillin and Gohan. Worn out Vegeta is about to finish off Gohan when Yadroibe slashes him from behind. The cut didn’t even pierce his armor but it stunned Vegeta for a second. Yadroibe thinks he won but the then Vegeta gets up and punches him. Vegeta is about to kill Yadroibe when he notices Gohan has grown his tail back. He gets scared and decides to finish Gohan before he is able to transform. Before he can do that, Goku tells Gohan to look at the artificial moon. Gohan transforms and goes on the rampage. He starts going nuts but Goku is able to tell him to get Vegeta. He hits Vegeta once but then Vegeta cuts off his tail in mid air. Gohan begins to fall and Vegeta realizes that he can not get around Gohan in time before he hits the ground. Gohan smahes into vegeta and lands on top of him. Gohan and Vegeta are now unconscious. Vegeta can only move enough to get out his remote control for his ship and send it to him. Krillin then gets up and grabs Yadroibe’s sword and is about to kill Vegeta when Goku tells him to let him go. Krillin reluctantly agrees and Vegeta escapes. The whole gang arrives and the begin to fly home.
